UAE Foreign Minister discusses with his Egyptian counterpart the developments in Syria and the region

Yesterday, Sunday, UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed discussed with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry the latest developments in Syria and the region.

A statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that the two ministers discussed the latest developments on the Arab arena and the developments in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Sudan, on the sidelines of the 12th Sir Bani Yas Forum organized by the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

The statement indicated that the two ministers discussed the latest developments in the Arab region and ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries to address different challenges in the regional and international arenas.

The two ministers also discussed ways to strengthen the role of Arab national security to address the growing challenges at regional and international levels.

According to the statement, “Shukry” referred to “the depth and rootedness of the existing strategic relations between the two brotherly countries,” expressing “the importance of continuing to work during the next stage in order to enhance areas of economic cooperation.”

This meeting comes less than a week after Abdullah bin Zayed met Bashar al-Assad for the first time since 2011, during his visit to Damascus.
