Israeli shelling on Aleppo International Airport puts it out of service

Violent explosions were heard at night yesterday in the vicinity of Aleppo city due to Israeli attack targeting Aleppo International Airport.

Assad regime news agency (SANA) said: “The Israeli forces launched a number of missiles from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea, west of Latakia, targeting Aleppo International Airport. The attack caused damage to the airport’s runway and put it out of service.”

The Assad regime claimed that its air defences intercepted the Israeli missiles and shot down a number of them.

The Transport Ministry at Assad regime government announced that it diverted the flights through Aleppo Airport to Damascus International Airport after Aleppo International Airport was out of service due to Israeli attack.

It was the second time that Israel hit Aleppo International Airport in less than a week as the Israeli missiles targeted last Wednesday Aleppo International Airport and military sites southeastern Damascus.

It is noteworthy that over the past years, Israel launched hundreds of strikes against targets inside Syria, but it rarely acknowledged those attacks and only talked about its repeated targeting of the bases of Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, which is fighting alongside the Assad regime in Syria, as well as weapons shipments believed to be heading to different agents.
