Russia vows to respond to Israeli attacks in Syria

The Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyanskiy, said on Wednesday that Russia considers the United Nations’ neglect of the recurrent Israeli military strikes on Syria is unacceptable.

He added that the Israeli attacks can’t be left without an appropriate response, according to “RT” website.

Polyanskiy claimed that the Israeli attacks on Syria, which target strategic military sites, are one of the most significant factors that destabilize the situation in Syria.

He made it clear that the Assad regime addressed several times the United Nations and the Security Council concerning the Israeli “violations”, but they did not take real measures to prevent them.

Israel has escalated its airstrikes on Syria, during the past months, targeting important military sites belonging to the Assad regime and Iranian militias.

The Israeli airstrikes focused on the airports of Aleppo and Damascus, the cities of Hama, Lattakia and Homs, as well as Sientific Studies and Research Center in Masyaf city.

The “Jerusalem Post” newspaper had earlier quoted Israeli officials as saying that the strikes had destroyed about 90 percent of Iran’s military infrastructure in Syria.
