Turkish MP: The beginning of a new era in relations between Ankara and the Assad regime is highly probable

The representative of the ruling Justice and Development Party in Turkey, Orhan Miroglu, considered that the beginning of a new era in relations between Ankara and the Assad regime is highly probable and not excluded.

Miroglu affirmed that “it is so hard to say that the rapprochement with Syria has begun, therefore it is difficult to answer questions such as how?, when?, with who?, and why?.

Miroglu said: “The Syrian side seems to have the tendency to conduct negotiations in a third country, and it is probably Russia, therefore it is early to talk about comprehensive cooperation.”
He pointed out that “the beginning of a new era in relations between the Assad regime and Ankara before the Turkish elections is possible, and this is highly probable, pointing out that Turkey is still far from the idea of partnership working.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has previously said: “Relations can return to normal with Syria in the next phase, as happened with Egypt, as there is no permanent rivalry in politics.”
