EU: It’s unfair to accuse us of not providing aid to Syrians
In remarks, EU envoy to Syria Dan Stoenescu said: “It is unfair to accuse us of not providing enough assistance to Syrians following the devastating earthquake that struck areas in Syria and Turkey last week.
Dan added: “The United Nations and international assistance did not arrive in Turkey in preparation for its introduction into Syria until last Friday.”
“The region is experiencing a severe humanitarian crisis due to Russia’s obstruction of access to aid from the Bab al-Hawa crossing before the Security Council agrees to extend the mechanism for the entry of international assistance.”
Since the devastating earthquake last Monday, no United Nations assistance has entered northwestern Syria, with the exception of two convoys consisting of only 20 vehicles in routine assistance, for an area of more than 4 million people.
