The quadripartite meeting on Syria between Russia, Turkey, Iran and the Assad regime begins in Moscow

The quadripartite meeting on Syria of the assistant foreign ministers of Turkey, Russia, Iran and the Assad regime began on Tuesday in the Russian capital, Moscow, after holding preliminary bilateral meetings on Monday.

The Russian delegation is headed by Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, the Turkish delegation is headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Burak Akçapar, and the Iranian delegation is headed by the Iranian foreign minister’s senior advisor, Ali Asghar Khaji, while the Assad regime delegation is headed by Assistant Foreign Minister Ayman Sousan, according to Russian agencies.

The Russia’s state news agency “Novosti” pointed out that the four delegations began arriving at the Guest House of Russia’s Foreign Ministry in Moscow from the early hours.

The Assad regime’s “SANA” news agency claimed that the delegation will focus in the quadripartite meeting on several main points, including ending Turkey’s military presence on Syrian territory, combating “terrorist organizations,” in addition to non-interference in Syria’s internal affairs.

The delegation of the Assad regime met Mikhail Bogdanov and Ali Asghar Khaji in a preliminary meeting, during which consultations and coordination regarding the quadripartite meeting took place.
