Iran transports advanced weapons and equipment to the Assad regime under the cover of earthquake aid

Reuters news agency said: “Iran has used the flights which transported aid to Assad regime following the earthquake in order to bring advanced weapons and military equipment into Syria.”

Reuters added that “hundreds of flights from Iran landed in Aleppo, Damascus and Latakia airports, and this continued for seven weeks.”

Reuters pointed out that “the supplies contained advanced communications equipment and radar batteries and spare parts required to develop air defence system provided by Iran to Assad regime.”

Reuters made it clear that if a humanitarian disaster happens, UN relief planes are allowed to seek landing rights from local authorities and humanitarian goods are exempt from sanctions.

It is noteworthy that Israel has carried out attacks for years against what it described as targets linked to Iran in Syria, where Tehran’s influence has grown since it began supporting the Assad regime since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution.
