Qatar’s Foreign Ministry: The reasons for freezing Assad regime’s membership in the Arab League are still exist

“Qatar’s position has not changed concerning the decision of returning Assad regime to the Arab League”, Majid Al-Ansari, Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesperson, said in the ministry’s weekly briefing.

Al-Ansari added that “the reasons for freezing Assad regime’s membership in the Arab League are still exist.”

Al-Ansari pointed out that “the position on Syria is mainly linked to achieve the Arab consensus and the field change on the ground that meets the Syrian people’s aspirations.

Al-Ansari added that “a consultative meeting will be held next Friday in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah city with the participation of the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq.”

Al-Ansari stressed that the meeting, which came at the invitation of Saudi Arabia, will exchange views on freezing Assad regime’s membership in the Arab League and the possibility of its return to it, and the position of each country in this regard.

It is noteworthy that Qatar and Morocco do not see any justification for changing their position on suspending Assad regime’s membership in the Arab League because its behavior has not changed.
