Stephane Dujarric: UN is seeking to deliver more aid through Bab al-Salam and al-Rai crossings

The spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, said that the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)and the World Health Organization (WHO) provided technical materials for the pediatric hospital and various health facilities in northwestern Syria.

A team from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs visited a pediatric hospital supported by the Syria Cross-border Humanitarian Fund (SCHF), according to Dujarric.

He added that the United Nations teams are planning to carry out more tasks and enter aid trucks through the Bab al-Salam and al-Rai crossings in the coming days.

While the World Health Organization implemented a monitoring process and provided technical assistance to many health facilities.

It is noteworthy that the Assad regime allowed the use of Bab al-Salam and al-Rai border crossings with Turkey until August 2023, to deliver UN humanitarian aid to the earthquake affected areas by the February 6 earthquake.

Russia vetoed the Security Council resolution submitted by Brazil and Switzerland on July 10, to extend the mechanism for humanitarian aid delivery mechanism to Syria through Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey for 9 months.
