Syria Civil Defence documents more than 50 tents damaged by the rainstorms in north-west Syria

Syria Civil Defence documented that more than 50 displaced persons’ tents were partially damaged in north-west Syria due to rain and snow falls.

Syria Civil Defence said on Friday, 26 January 2024, in a Facebook post that “al-Hadas, al-Tadamon, Zoghara, and Widows” camps in east and north Aleppo countryside were damaged due to the rainfalls.

Syria Civil Defence added that the rainfalls accompanied by snowfalls in Afrin heights led to obstruct the traffic on some roads without completely blocking them.

Syria Civil Defence pointed out that its teams worked on opening passages to drain the water and inspected several other camps in eastern Aleppo countryside but they did not receive complaints from civilians regarding damages in them.

Syria Civil Defence documented earlier that 58 internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in northern Syria were damaged in the last mid-November due to torrential rains on the region.

“Syria Response Coordination Group” has called on all humanitarian parties to provide emergency aid for displaced people in the camps and slums in northwest Syria, especially that most humanitarian organizations have not actually moved yet to provide winter necessities.

It is noteworthy that 94% of displaced persons in north-west Syria are not able to afford heating materials for recent winter, while 74% of whom did not get the heating materials this year, according “Syria Response Coordination Group”.
