The Syrian Coalition: The multiple crises around the world complicated the resolution avenues in Syria

The head of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi al-Bahra, stated that “the multiple crises around the world such as Ukraine, Sudan, Yemen, and the war on Gaza shifted the priority of the Syrian file among countries.”

Al-Bahra’s statement came during the International Diplomacy Forum held in Antalya, Turkey, and concluded last Sunday, 3 March 2024.

Al-Bahra said: “those crises do not exempt the international community from its obligations and responsibilities towards the Syrian people who erupted against a regime that violated their human, constitutional, and political rights and committed war crimes and crimes against humanity and innocents.”

Al-Bahra added: “The interference of the global and regional crises and the direct military presence of the biggest global power and the strongest regional power on the Syrian territories have complicated the resolution paths in Syria.”

Al-Bahra confirmed that it is necessary to take effective steps and find a mandatory mechanism to implement firmly and completely the UNSCR 2254 and prevent Assad regime from creating more obstacles to the political solution.

It is noteworthy that the head of the SOC, Hadi al-Bahra, alongside with the head of the Syrian Negotiation Commission, Badr Jamous, and the head of the Syrian Interim Government, Abdulrahman Mustafa, participated in the third Antalya Diplomacy Forum, held at the beginning of this March, under the auspices of the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the initiative of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
