Syrian opposition officials are ready to resign immediately
Three Syrian oppositions officials announced their readiness to resign from their positions immediately.
This announcement came during the expanded meeting held by the Syrian opposition, both militarily and politically, in the Turkish city of Gaziantep a few days ago.
According to the journalist Samer al-Ani, the Syrian National Army factions talked during the Gaziantep meeting about the reasons for not resigning of the political officials at the Syria opposition, prompting three of those officials to put their resignation on the meeting table.
Samer al-Ani revealed the names of the officials; they are the head of the Syrian National Coalition, Hadi al-Bahra, the head of the Syrian Negotiation Commission, Badr Jamous, and the head of the Tribal and Clans Council, Jihad Marai.
According to al-Ani, the three officials said: “We have put our resignation on the table, and let us all resign,” while the head of the interim government, Abdul Rahman Mustafa, said: “I will not put my resignation on the table, no matter the cost.”
Al-Ani considered that if Mustafa resigned, it would embarrass everyone, and therefore everyone would submit his resignation. He criticized that decision and described the government as following the path of the Assad regime and adopting its rhetoric, such as describing the protesters as “saboteurs” and refusing to give up power.
Al-Ani pointed out that the last meeting of the political body in the Syrian Coalition only discussed developments in the Aleppo countryside, during which three committees were formed to investigate the recent developments, explaining that the committee was approved by 16 members out of 19.
The Syrian opposition, both its political and military sides, held an expanded meeting in Turkey a few days ago, to discuss developments in the Syrian file in general, including the popular movement inside the country that rejects the opening of the “Abu al-Zindin” crossing.
The meeting witnessed debates and divisions between the military factions and the Syrian Interim Government, and criticism of the National Coalition and the Council of Tribes and Clans followed by announcement of the “Levan Front” in the National Army announcing the suspension of work with the Interim Government due to the charges against it by Mustafa during the meeting. It also called on the Coalition to withhold confidence in the Interim Government.
