Turkey provides drinking water to more than a million civilians in northern Syria

Yesterday, Sunday, the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry said that the Turkish Water Corporation is undertaking the drilling and restoration of wells in the liberated Syrian areas, with the aim of meeting the residents’ needs of fresh water.


According to the report of the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, excavation and restoration work is taking place in the areas of operations of the Euphrates Shield, Olive Branch and Peace Spring.


According to the report, drinking water was provided to about 705 thousand people in the areas of Juban Bay, Al-Bab, Azaz, Marea and Darmik, which are located within the Euphrates Shield area.


The ministry pointed out that “the Turkish Water Corporation provided drinking water to nearly 510,000 people, by digging 36 new wells and restoring 10 old wells in the (Peace Spring) area.”


The Turkish Water Corporation also restored wells affected by the war in the Euphrates Shield areas.


The Turkish Water Corporation has also dug wells to extract drinking water in camps inhabited by the displaced persons.
