Syria Response Coordinators: Humanitarian organizations and the international community must control the Coronavirus

The Syria Response Coordinators Team in the IDP camps called on all civil institutions and organizations working in the humanitarian field to intervene more than the current reality through financial and logistical support for organizations operating in northwestern Syria.

The team called in a statement yesterday, the international community and international institutions based on humanitarian work in the region, to ensure urgent prevention, treatment and control over the spread of the virus within the camps, especially with the onset of the winter season.

The statement stated: “While the camps for the displaced continue to record high rates of injuries, bringing the total number of injuries recorded within the camps to 1,828, with an increase of 718 injuries during the last twenty days, equivalent to 10.30% of the total injuries recorded in the region.”

The statement added, “While the camps for the displaced continue to record high rates of injuries, bringing the total number of injuries recorded within the camps to 1,828, an increase of 718 injuries during the last twenty days, equivalent to 10.30% of the total infections recorded in the region.”

Response coordinators warned that the continued registration of coronavirus infections in the camps increases the risks of the camps becoming a major focus of the epidemic, and greatly increasing the pressure on humanitarian response operations in the region.
