Command of US forces in Iraq: Nine American soldiers were wounded by a missile attack in northern Iraq

The US Forces Command in Iraq announced that a missile attack on an American military base in Kurdistan, northern Iraq, resulted in the injury of nine American soldiers and the killing of a foreign civilian contractor.

On Monday, the US Department of Defense stated that 14 missiles targeted an American base in Erbil, four of which hit a military compound at the city’s airport.

A spokesman for the International Coalition, Colonel Wayne Maruto, said on “Twitter” that the attack hit the coalition forces in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region, and indicated that more details would be revealed, in turn.

Iranian militia, called the “Awliya al-Dam Brigades,” claimed responsibility for the missile attack that targeted Erbil airport.

She said in a statement that, “At exactly nine and 15 minutes this evening, your men in the Awliya al-Dam Company were able to carry out a qualitative operation against the American occupation.
After the CRAM system failed to intercept it.

In a statement, the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed Washington’s anger at the missile attack that targeted the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

Blinken said, “I contacted the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan region, Masrour Barzani, to discuss the incident, and pledge our support for all efforts to investigate it and hold those responsible accountable.”
This is the deadliest attack on the US-led forces in nearly a year in Iraq and the second of its kind, as unidentified persons targeted the airport last September with six missiles without causing any casualties, while the last attack on the coalition forces was last March. At that time, a British soldier and two American soldiers were killed.
