The European Union establishes a new strategy to repatriate refugees

The European Union has presented a new strategy to establish a new immigration system to repatriate refugees whose asylum applications have not been accepted, as the strategy forms part of several immigration packages.

Vice President of the European Commission, Margaritis Chinas, said in a statement: “Europe will remain a destination of asylum for those fleeing persecution and war, but those who are not entitled to remain must be returned to their countries of origin .. Failure to do so undermines the credibility of our system and prevents us from protecting those who need it.”

Chinas added that Europe is building a new ecosystem for returnees, by increasing cooperation with third countries on readmission, and improving the country’s government framework, noting that this strategy “includes providing advice to migrants who arrive without permission, as well as glorifying the benefits of returning home, Helping migrants to reintegrate once they return to their homeland. ”

The strategy includes other aspects of the plan, smoother legal and operational procedures for their deportation, and the use of development aid or visa restrictions to persuade countries to take them back, and according to the European Commission, the territories that migrants may have crossed as part of their journey to Europe, may also be convinced of taking asylum seekers.

On December 11, 2020, the German Interior Ministry decided not to renew the ban on deportations to Syria, and accordingly, the courts can decide on a case-by-case basis whether to deport Syrians convicted of crimes in Germany as of the first day of the year 2021.
