Moscow responds to Washington, accusing it of violating the mechanism to avoid clashes in Syria

The Russian embassy in Washington responded, Thursday, to the Pentagon’s accusations against Moscow of violating the mechanism to avoid clashes in Syria, and said that the US military presence in Syria is illegal.

The embassy added, in a tweet on “Twitter”: “We would like to recall: First of all, the American military presence in Syria is illegal, and therefore the United States has no right to criticize the legal procedures of the Russian forces operating in Syria at the invitation of the government of this country.“

Earlier, the US Defense Department accused the Russian side of violating agreements to prevent clashes between the two countries’ forces in Syria.

In this regard, the Pentagon said, in a report published on Tuesday on the conduct of Operation Inherent Resolve against Terrorism: “The coalition reminds that Russian forces, despite their general commitment to non-engagement agreements with its forces, continued to commit violations that did not endanger coalition forces.

Since the start of their operations in Syria in 2015, Russia and the United States have concluded several agreements to prevent any incidents between the forces of the two countries.
