Saudi Arabia prevents Syrian commercial trucks from entering its territory

The Saudi authorities issued a decision banning the entry of a number of Syrian trucks loaded with vegetables and fruits, and this comes after the Jordanian side allowed these trucks to cross days after preventing their entry.

The official of the export committee in the Damascus Chamber of Commerce of the Assad regime, Fayez Qassoma, said: “The Saudi side prevented trucks from entering Saudi territory, after they were allowed by the Jordanian side, due to the lack of an identification card.”

He added, “The Chairman of the Council of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the Assad regime sent a letter to the head of the Saudi Chambers of Commerce Administration with the aim of finding a solution to the problem.”

He pointed out that “the Saudi side imposed new conditions and specifications on Syrian goods.”
He pointed out that “the card requested by the Saudi side includes the type, weight and date of harvest.”

The government of the Assad regime and the Jordanian government reached an agreement regarding the trucks stuck on the Syrian-Jordanian border, and loaded with Syrian goods to the Gulf markets at the border, and the agreement aims to speed up the measures related to the transit of freight refrigerators.

It is not the first time that Syrian trucks have been suspended on the Jordanian border, and truck drivers have complained of losses in the millions of pounds and damaged contents, since the reopening of the Nassib crossing on October 15, 2018, after the Assad regime forces took control of Daraa governorate, and the entry of Syrian trucks into the city was repeatedly prevented. For its part, the Saudi authorities did not comment on the decision to prevent the entry of Syrian trucks, and the narrator about the reasons for the ban due to the lack of an identification card issued by the government of the Assad regime.
