UNICEF: Escalation of violence in Syria kills and injures 45 children since beginning of July

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said in a statement that 45 children have been killed and injured since the beginning of last July in Syria, in light of the continued bombardment of the Assad regime on northwestern Syria and the violation of the ceasefire.

The organization attributed the reason for this to the continued escalation and violence, especially in northern Syria, stressing that the parties to the conflict must protect children at all times.

“After ten years of the conflict in Syria, killing children has become a commonplace,” the organization explained, adding that “many families have been left in grief over the irreparable loss of their children, and therefore nothing justifies the killing of children.”

Artillery shelling with Krasnopol missiles by the Assad regime targeted the village of Tadel, west of Aleppo, this morning, Monday, killing a girl and wounding her sister, in addition to causing material damage to civilian property, according to our correspondent.

The military escalation targeting the de-escalation zone included in the March 5, 2020 agreement continues, by the Assad regime forces and the Russian forces, in clear violation of the agreement signed with the Turkish side.
