An Egyptian-Jordanian-Syrian-Lebanese meeting will be held next week in Jordan to activate the steps of electricity and gas transmission to Lebanon

The Lebanese energy minister, Raymond Ghajar, has revealed that a Quadripartite meeting will be held next week in Jordan with the participation of “Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt” to identify the necessary steps to activate the agreement among the four countries.

He has clarified that the meeting will discuss” the financial and technical issues, and develop a work programme and timetable and establish a technical teamwork to reveal all the sites in Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan. The technical teamwork will also make sure of the safety of its investments to activate them safely, and this could begin between Lebanon and Syria because they are related to each other directly and between Syria, Jordan, and Egypt.

He pointed out that yesterday talks between the Syrian and Lebanese sides in Damascus were positive according to his description, noting the Syrian side expressed a great desire to collaborate with Lebanese side.

He also said the technical details on the issue of electricity, “In order to be able to obtain electricity, electricity must pass through a network of 400 kilovolts from Jordan through Syria to Lebanon,” pointing out that “there are damages and need to be surveyed to ascertain their size.”
