Turkish Interior Minister reveals the date for returning Syrian refugees to their country

Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu considered that the return of Syrian refugees to their country will take place in one case.

Soylu said, “The Syrian refugees will return to their country when there is security and safety in northern Syria,” referring to the entire Syrian border opposite his country.

Soylu added that his country will return the Syrian refugees when the cities and towns in northern Syria are safe.

He pointed out that the Syrian refugees in Turkey are under the temporary protection program approved by the government, noting that his country will return all irregular migrants to their country.

Soylu’s statements come at a time when opposition parties are increasingly calling for the need to return Syrian refugees to their country, in an effort to win the support of the Turks ahead of the Turkish presidential elections in 2023.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on the European Union on many occasions to take new measures in order to reduce the flow of refugees into his country.
