12 deaths and 501 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in northwest Syria

The Early Warning Network recorded in its latest statistics on September 18, 2021, 12 deaths and 501 new infections with Corona virus in northwestern Syria, bringing the number of recorded deaths to 969 and the number of infections to 60074.

The network stated that 221 new cases of infection were recorded, including 221 in Aleppo countryside (97 in Afrin, 10 in Jabal Samaan, 114 in Azaz), and Idlib governorate recorded 280 infections (2 in Ariha, 217 in Harem, 56 in Idlib, 5 in Jisr al-Shughur). .

The network recorded 426 cases of recovery, 163 of which were recorded in Aleppo countryside (105 in Afrin, 53 in Jarablus, 5 in Jabal Samaan), and 263 in Idlib governorate (4 in Ariha, 146 in Harem, 113 in Idlib), bringing the number of recovery cases to 23,768 cases.

The Epidemiological Surveillance Laboratory of the Early Warning Network Program indicated that it conducted 971 analyzes of Corona virus, bringing the number of analyzes it carried out to 247,986 in northern Syria.

The epidemiological surveillance laboratory stated that the reason for the decrease in the number of detected cases is resulted from the decrease in the number of available smears, and that the daily positive rate amounted to (51.59%).

The Minister of Health of the Syrian Interim Government, Dr. Maram Al-Sheikh, previously said, “The Ministry of Health is closely monitoring the developments of the Covid pandemic in northwestern Syria, and is warning of the coming of the worst and exacerbation of the situation in terms of an increase in the number of infections and a weak absorptive capacity of facilities designated to respond to the epidemic.” .

He added, “The Ministry of Health appeals to international organizations and donor governments to intensify efforts and fulfill obligations towards responding to the pandemic in particular, and to strengthen the health sector in general in order to stand in the face of this attack.”

The campaign to vaccinate people with chronic diseases, the elderly, health and humanitarian workers against the Corona virus continues, in the liberated areas in northwestern Syria, under the supervision of the Syria Vaccine Team. It was launched on the morning of Saturday, May 1, 2021, in the Idlib governorate.
