8 deaths and 961 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in northwestern Syria

Yesterday, northwestern Syria recorded more than 900 new infections with the emerging coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections to 82,958 since the outbreak began.

According to the report issued by the Epidemiological Surveillance Laboratory of the Early Warning Network, 961 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, after 1520 new analyses were conducted, while the number of recovery cases reached 522, 494 of them in Idlib governorate, and 28 in the “Olive Branch” and “ Euphrates Shield” areas, bringing the number of recovery cases to 48,233.

The infections were distributed among the cities and towns of Idlib governorate, so that the governorate recorded 683 new infections, 310 of them in Idlib city and its suburbs and 298 in Harem area, while the cities and towns of the northern and eastern Aleppo countryside recorded 278 infections, 96 of them in  Azaz area, and 82 infections in Afrin area.

While the past hours recorded, 8 deaths related to Corona, bringing the number of deaths to 1,586  since the virus began spreading in northwest Syria, according to the epidemiological surveillance laboratory.

Warnings are coming from medical and humanitarian organizations in the region, of the repercussions of the health sector’s inability as a result of its continuous exhaustion for nearly two months.

It is noteworthy that the number of analyzes that have been conducted until the eighteenth of this month has reached 289,855 since the pandemic outbreak in the middle of last year.
