International pressure to keep Bab al-Hawa border crossing open for humanitarian aid

The United States and other Western countries continue its pressure campaign in the security council to remain Bab al-Hawa border crossing open for humanitarian aid in northern Syria.

The campaign coincided with approaching a meeting session to vote on a resolution to renew the mandate of humanitarian aid delivery across the Turkish border into Syrian territories.

Foreign officials expected Russia’s intention to use the veto power against the extension resolution to ease Western pressure after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“The New York Times” newspaper said: that countries in Europe and the Middle East may witness a new surge in refugees if Russia shuts down the last humanitarian convoy route into Syria.

The UN Security Council is scheduled to vote on the draft resolution to renew the mandate of cross-border aid delivery after a month from now.
