More than 200 attacks on northern Syria by the Assad regime and Russia have been documented since the beginning of this year

The Syrian Civil Defense issued a report yesterday, in which it confirmed that its teams responded to 216 attacks by the Assad regime and Russian forces on the areas of northwestern Syria, from the beginning of this year until July 22, killing 24 civilians, including 8 children and 4 women, and wounding 45 civilians, including 13 children and 5 women.

The report came hours after the Russian warplanes committed a massacre in Idleb countryside, which led to the death of 7 civilians, including 4 children from the same family, and the injury of 13 others, including 8 children, by targeting a poultry farm inhabited by displaced people and civilian homes on the outskirts of al-Jadida village in western Idleb countryside.

The report stated, “the terrorist crime committed by Russian warplanes in al-Jadida village is a continuation of the killing, displacement and criminality policy practiced by Russia to support the Assad regime in killing Syrians for years.”

The report pointed out “this massacre is evidence that Russia can never be on the side of peace and a party that brings safety to the Syrians. What Russia is doing on the ground completely contradicts what it says, and the international community must put an end to Russian cross-border terrorism.”

The report added that, “artillery bombardment of the Assad regime forces targeting Idleb countryside and Sahl al-Ghab coincided with the Russian strikes, in a new escalation in northwestern Syria, which undermines the hope for stability and makes the people live in tension and increases their suffering.

The Civil Defense has previously confirmed that what Russia has done over the years, including killing civilians, destroying infrastructure, and bombing hospitals, schools and markets are “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity.”
