Iran agency announces the killing of Iranian Revolutionary Guard General in Syria
Iran’s Mehr News Agency announced on Monday-Tuesday night the killing of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard General, Abolfazl Alijani, while he was on an advisory mission in Syria, without specifying where he was killed.
There were no further details about Alijani’s death. Iranian media denied that his killing is related to the recent Israeli strikes in Syria due to time difference between the strikes and his killing, which is about one week.
Alijani is considered one of the most prominent military advisor and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’ Generals in Syria.
Mehr Agency stated that Alijani’s body is to be transferred to Iran in the coming days for his funeral.
Iranian news agency had previously announced the killing of two Revolutionary Guards commanders in Israeli bombardment targeting areas in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
