British newspaper: NATO is planning for a permanent military presence on its borders to confront any Russian aggression

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg announced that “NATO is working on plans for a permanent military presence on its border to confront future Russian aggression, as the tension escalated between Russia and NATO due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.”

Stoltenberg said yesterday in an interview with The Telegraph newspaper: “NATO is in the midst of a very fundamental transformation that will express the long-term consequences of the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin”.

He added “What we see now is a new reality, a new normal for European security. Therefore, we have now asked our military commanders to provide options for what we call a reset, a longer-term adaptation of NATO.”

He indicated that the alliance will hold a summit in June, and the members of the alliance will take the necessary decisions on the reset during their meeting.

On February 24, Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine, which had been met with angry international reactions and the implementation of “tough” economic and financial sanctions on Moscow.
