Cavusoglu: We are working with Russia to maintain the Syrian field calm and advance the political process

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stressed that Turkey will continue to work with Russia to maintain calm on the Syrian field for the sake of the political process.

“Turkey and Russia are making great efforts to coordinate and continue to work to maintain calm on the ground in order to advance the political process in Syria,” Davutoglu said during a press conference in the Turkish city of Antalya yesterday, Wednesday.

Davutoglu added, “There is a consensus between Turkey and Russia on the continuation of the ceasefire in Syria,” stressing the need to preserve the territorial integrity of Syria.

He continued, “The upcoming Astana tour must be constructive, and Turkey is ready to cooperate with all concerned countries on the Syrian file, noting that new agreements are being worked on and the continuation of the Astana Agreement.”
“We stress the need for stability in Syria to continue, and the need to uproot terrorist organizations from it,” Lavrov said.

“We are actively working on settling the Syrian crisis within the framework of the Astana formula,” the deputy chief of the Main Operations Department of the Russian Army’s General Staff, Major General Yaroslav Moskalik said about this tour.

These statements come after the Assad regime’s military escalation campaign on Idlib since the beginning of June, which subsided in the past two days, and led to the killing of 35 people, including 3 children, a fetus and 5 women, and a volunteer of the Syrian Civil Defense, while 73 others were injured, including children and women.
