Erdogan: We will return some Syrian refugees to their country

After his meeting with the Council of Ministers, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made statements regarding the Syrian refugees and the general situation in the country after the disasters of fires and floods.

Erdogan said in a televised speech after a government meeting: “There are Syrians who will remain in Turkey, but the Turkish authorities will help many of them to return safely and voluntarily to their country, after the establishment of security and stability in Syria.”

“Those who have learned Turkish, acquired professional skills and adapted to the country will remain in Turkey, while others will have to return to Syria once conditions in the war-torn country improve,” he added.

And he added, “It is our responsibility towards our citizens to help those who did not succeed in returning to their homes, in parallel with the improvement of conditions in their countries.”

The Turkish president added, “As for those who committed crimes, they will be prosecuted by the judicial authorities, and those who can integrate into social life can remain in the country, and those who do not do so will be sent back to their country.”

He also expressed his anger at the intensification of racist attacks and incitement by opposition parties towards Syrian refugees, especially after the events in the capital, Ankara, about a week ago, and commented: “Those who put their hands on the lives and property of innocents will not only find the state and the authorities, but will also find the nation facing them.”
He vowed severe punishment for those who commit crimes against Syrian immigrants.
