Germany provides Turkey a grant of £71.3 million to create job opportunities for Syrian refugees

The German Investment Bank intends to provide a financial grant to Turkey, to be used in creating job opportunities for Syrians within its territory.

Turkish media reported that the amount to be provided by the German investment bank comes as part of the aid package that the European Union promised to provide to Turkey, in exchange for the presence of Syrian refugees within its territory.

The media indicated that this grant comes to enable investments and support companies that are predominantly Syrian and Turkish by stimulating official employment.

The European Commission announced last September that it was preparing a new aid package worth 3 billion euros to support Turkey in facing the burden of refugees.

Turkey hosts nearly 4 million Syrian refugees, more than any other country in the world.
