Harris resigns from the “congress” shortly before taking over as Biden’s deputy

Camala Harris, US Vice President-elect Joe Biden, announced her resignation from the Senate, two days before the handover of power.

Harris formally submitted her letter of resignation from her seat in the US Senate to California Governor Gavin Newsom, ending her four-year career.

She wrote in her letter: “Dear Governor Newsom, I submit my resignation as a Senator from California, effective January 18, 2021. While I assume my duties as Vice President of the United States.”

And she continued: “I would like to thank the people of California for the honor of serving in the US Senate during the past four years,” according to what was reported by “CNN”.

Harris will be the first woman, first black person, and first South Asian to hold the office of vice president in US history.
President Donald Trump’s term is due to expire on January 20.

It is noteworthy that Biden won the presidential election with a majority of 306 of the electoral college votes compared to 232 for Trump, and Congress has officially ratified this result, while Trump will not attend the handover ceremony in an incident that is the first in American history.
