Hebrew newspaper: Israel implements the policy of “octopus doctrine” to strike the Iranian presence in Syria

The Hebrew newspaper, The Jerusalem Post, revealed that Israel is implement a new policy in dealing with the Iranian presence in Syria, represented by the “octopus doctrine” approach revealed earlier by Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

The new Israeli policy in Syria aims to directly target Iran and its proxies in the region, according to the newspaper.

The newspaper said in a report that sheds light on Iran’s policy in Syria, and how Tehran uses Syrian territories as a part of its road to the Mediterranean, and smuggles weapons from Syria to its militias in the region, especially the Lebanese “Hezbollah” militia, in order to threaten Israel.

The newspaper added wondering on how Assad regime will react to the new Israeli doctrine in Syria? And how it will handle it? And whether it will abandon its ally Iran or will it continue to depend on it ,especially since the “new doctrine” of Israel caused harm to strategic infrastructure after striking Damascus International Airport? Or whether it will find a way to reduce the attacks?.

The newspaper considered that the Assad regime is unable to find solutions to all the problems it is going through, especially the continued Israeli attacks against its sites and strategic infrastructure, and stressed that the ongoing attacks against Iranian sites there weaken the Assad and may lead him to take difficult choices.

Israeli planes targeted with airstrikes Damascus International Airport at dawn last Friday. The airport was out of service due to the strikes. A Hebrew newspaper quoted Israeli military sources as saying that the Syrian ports could be the next targets in Syria.
