Iran continues to supply the Assad regime with crude oil in defiance of US sanctions

Yesterday, Monday, two oil tankers from Iran arrived at Baniyas port on the Syrian coast.

The Tanker Trackers website, which tracks the movement of oil tankers, said that the tankers DARAN and GOLROO arrived yesterday at Baniyas port, as expected.

The website added that the two Iranian-flagged tankers loaded with crude oil crossed the Suez Canal on their way to Syria, not Lebanon.

The Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, “Mohammed Javad Ferozania”, had confirmed earlier that the Iranian fuel tanker bound for Lebanon will arrive soon, and that this operation showed that his country will not allow the policy of sanctions and the American blockade imposed on it to be achieved.

And according to what was reported by “Reuters” agency, two well-informed sources, that the first shipments of Iranian fuel brought by the “Hezbollah” militia will reach Lebanese territory by trucks through Syrian territory to avoid complications related to US sanctions, and the leader of the “Hezbollah” militia announced that the first Iranian fuel tankers Heading to Lebanon set off.

A few days ago, the British Guardian newspaper said that an Iranian oil tanker carrying oil derivatives on its way to deliver its cargo to Lebanon via Syrian territory has reached the Red Sea, in what is considered a test of the US administration and its sanctions imposed on Iran and Syria.

According to the newspaper, the United States has not revealed any procedures related to the Iranian oil shipment that arrived in Syria.

The newspaper pointed out that the US administration indicated earlier that it may not interfere in the supply of Iranian fuel to Lebanon after the crisis in the country.

And the US Senator, Chris Murphy, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, had indicated that any other separate plan to import gas to Lebanon from Egypt, through Jordan and Syria, could be exempted, if it came to light.
