Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian discussed with the Russian President’s envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin, regional cooperation and the situation in Syria.
A statement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated, “Lavrentiev and Vershinin, after a trip to Damascus in which they met Bashar al-Assad, headed to Tehran, where they met Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian, and the two sides discussed regional cooperation and the situation in Syria..”
During the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister described the joint cooperation between the two countries in Syria as ” a very successful experience.”
He stressed “the need for close cooperation between Russia and Iran in preserving sovereignty, reconstruction, and contribution to Syria’s stability..”
On October 7, last, Sergei Vershinin and President Vladimir Putin’s envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, discussed the current situation in and around Syria, Ali Asghar Haji, Iran’s assistant foreign minister for political affairs.
