Pro-Trump protesters storm the Congress building

Supporters of US President Donald Trump stormed the US Congress today, Thursday, at the Capitol building, after the start of the presidential election approval session.

The violence caused a serious injury to a woman with a gunshot, broken windows and injured several police officers as a result of the violence taking place in the vicinity of the US Congress building, which led to the closure of the building.

US President-elect Joe Biden called on Trump’s supporters to withdraw from the periphery of Congress and stop the riots immediately, stressing that “Trump must be responsible and get out to stop the chaos.”

The Department of Homeland Security has sent military reinforcements to Congress, to help quell the violence caused by Trump supporters.

For his part, the governor of Virginia announced that he would send 200 soldiers and National Guard members to protect the Congress building.

The governor of Pennsylvania considered that the entry of the demonstrators to the Congress building in Washington, DC, was a “coup attempt.”

The Pentagon announced a mobilization of 1,100 National Guard members to help quell the violence in Congress, in conjunction with a statement by Democrats in Congress to ask Trump to invite his supporters to disperse the protests.
