Putin: Moscow will supply 50 million tons of grain to world markets

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that his country will supply 50 million tons of grain to global markets this year.

The announcement came during a BRICS Plus meeting via video conference yesterday, Friday, in which he said: “Russia is ready to export grain to global markets, pointing to his country’s readiness to fulfil all its contractual obligations related to energy sources and grain crops.”

Putin affirmed that Russia is able to supply 50 tons of grain to world markets during 2022.

Putin pointed out that Western countries significantly exacerbated the supply problem, and that Moscow does not prevent the export of Ukrainian grain in any way.

Western countries accuse Russia of seizing Ukrainian grain and crops in the ports it recently took control during the war it launched against Ukraine.

Russia and Ukraine together supply approximately a third of the world’s wheat. Ukraine is considered a major country to export corn, barley, sunflower oil and rapeseed oil. Russia and Belarus accounted for more than 40% of global potash exports, that is used as a fertilizer.
