Qatari Amiri Diwan: The Emir of Qatar will head the Qatar delegation participating in the Gulf Cooperation Summit

The Qatari Emiri Court announced that the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will head his country’s delegation to participate in the Gulf Cooperation Council summit today in Saudi Arabia.


Reuters quoted a senior official in the administration of US President Donald Trump as saying that an agreement will be signed on Tuesday to end the Gulf crisis, which requires Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt to lift the blockade on Qatar, which began on June 5, 2017.


Reuters reported that a US delegation headed by Jared Kushner, Trump’s chief adviser, is heading to Saudi Arabia to attend the signing of the agreement.


Meanwhile, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said in a statement carried by the official news agency this evening that the summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council will be “a summit that unites the word for the class and strengthens the march of good and prosperity.”


He added that the summit will translate the aspirations of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his brothers, the leaders of the GCC states, in “reunification and solidarity in facing the challenges in our region.”


Yesterday, Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Muhammad Al-Sabah, announced the end of the blockade imposed on the State of Qatar, the resumption of relations between it and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the opening of the airspace and the land and sea borders between them.


The Kuwaiti minister said in a statement: “The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, made a phone call with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Muhammad bin Salman,” explaining that during the call, it was confirmed that everyone was keen on unity of the ranks. Reuniting and collecting the word by signing the statement of Al-Ula.


He added that based on the proposal of the Emir of Kuwait, “It has been agreed to open the airspace and the land and sea borders between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar as of this evening,” indicating that Sheikh Nawwaf expressed his confidence that the Gulf summit, which will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, in the city of Al-Ula In Saudi Arabia, an end to the dispute and return to normalcy.
