Russia opens a corridor to evacuate civilians in Ukraine’s Mariupol and Kyiv requests advanced weapons from the United States

The Russian forces opened today a corridor to evacuate the civilians in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol at the request of Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, this came in a statement by the Russian Defense Ministry on Telegram.

The statement added that the Russian forces opened the corridor to evacuate Ukrainian civilians and foreign citizens in the city, and they can move from Mariupol to Berdyansk through the humanitarian corridor. Foreign citizens can also move from Berdyansk to areas controlled by Ukraine or to Russian-controlled Crimea.

On the other hand, the Ukrainian presidential advisor asked his country’s allies to provide Kyiv with heavy weapons as the Russian army is shifting its military focus on eastern and southern Ukraine.

Ukraine’s president advisor, Podolyak, said: “Our partners must finally understand that the ‘Afghanization’ they want and the long-term conflict that is exhausting for Russia will not happen.”

On February 24, Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine, which has been met with international outrage and implementing tough financial and economic sanctions on Moscow.
