Saudi Arabia requires a settlement under the auspices of the United Nations to contribute to the reconstruction efforts in Syria

Saudi Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan, said today, Tuesday, on the sidelines of the Fifth Brussels Conference of Donors for Syria that his country requires a settlement in Syria under the supervision of the United Nations to contribute to the reconstruction efforts.

The Saudi minister confirmed that Iran is implementing a plan for sectarian and demographic change in Syria, calling on it to stop that project.

On March 10, the Saudi minister stated during a press conference with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, that resolving the crisis in Syria requires consensus between the parties to the crisis from the Syrian opposition and the Assad regime, stressing his country’s keenness to find a way to stop the bleeding in Syria.

He added, “The Kingdom stresses the importance of continuing to support efforts aimed at resolving the Syrian crisis in a way that guarantees the security of the Syrian people and protects them from terrorist organizations and sectarian militias that impede access to real solutions that serve the Syrian people.”
