The Assad regime issues a decision to raise the prices of petroleum products

The Syrian Company for Storage and Distribution of Petroleum Products, affiliated with the Assad regime, issued a decision to raise the price of fuel by 20%, and this will automatically lead to an increase in the prices of industrial products.

This decision came after the approval of the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources and the letter of the Prime Minister of the Assad regime, Hussein Arnous, to raise the price of petroleum products.

The Ministry of Administrative Development in the Assad regime said: “Increasing the price of a ton of fuel from 510,000 Syrian pounds to 621,000 Syrian pounds will lead to an increase in the prices of industrial products.”

According to the Assad regime, it justified raising fuel prices as a temporary decision, while decisions to reduce fuel allocations and raise prices exacerbate the crisis at a time when Assad regime officials claim that economic sanctions are one of the main causes of the crisis.

For the fourth time since the beginning of this year, the Assad regime’s government has raised the price of “octane 95” gasoline, to reach the limit of 3000 Syrian pounds per liter, which increases the suffering of citizens on the one hand, and opens the door to questions about the reasons and goals behind this step on the other hand.
