The National Coalition: We call donors to respond to refugees’ suffering in northern Syria camps

The head of the National Coalition, Salem al-Maslat, sent a set of messages to Syria’s donors about the winter needs in the northern Syrian camps.

Yahya Maktabi, a member of the political body in the coalition, said in a statement to Fresh Online, that the messages sent by the head of the National Coalition to donors, countries and institutions, aim to convey the catastrophic situation that the displaced suffer in the winter season, as a result of the severe cold and heavy rain that damaged their tents.

Maktabi stated that according to needs assessment of displaced carried out by the Support Coordination Unit a plan was put for these needs. The responses of countries and organizations on these messages will be followed, hoping that these responses will be at the level of suffering, and that the catastrophic situation that affects the displaced will not occur in every winter.

According to what the National Coalition announced, Salem Al-Maslat sent messages to the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, the Qatar Fund for Development, the Qatar Red Crescent, the Emirates Red Crescent, and the representative of the ruler of Abu Dhabi in Al Dhafra Region, and Martin Griffiths, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator.

The displaced people in northern Syria camps suffer difficult conditions every winter, due to the bad weather, amid continuing appeals for humanitarian organizations to provide the basic needs of the displaced to ease their suffering in the winter season.
