The Opposition: There are many alternatives to Assad, and we call for the return of the Arab role in Syria

Ahmed al-Jarba, head of the Peace and Freedom Front, said in an interview with Rudaw TV that there are alternatives to Bashar al-Assad, and not one alternative, speaking of the Syrian opposition’s desire to return the active Arab role to Syria.

In his speech, Al-Jarba explained that Syria is the birth of men, of stature, of women, and of personalities that have a social and political influence, and said: “There is certainly an alternative (for Assad), and not one alternative, but alternatives,” while he considered that the most appropriate political system for Syria is the decentralized system, because it guarantees the rights of all people in Syria.

He stated that the initiative launched recently by the Front from Erbil, Iraq, calls for the return of the Arab role to Syria after their retreat due to regional problems, explaining that the Arabs were active in Syria between 2012 and 2015, and their position was good and supportive of the Syrians and the Syrian revolution.

He added: “We chose this time, because the Arabs are in the midst of reconciliation, and they have important regional and international relations, and important economic ones, each in his own way. Egypt is the largest Arab country, Saudi Arabia is the country of the Two Holy Mosques and the largest oil country, and Qatar with its complex regional and international relations, and its relationship with the administration The United States is important at the current stage, and for these reasons, we presented an initiative for these three countries to integrate with the Turkish role and to agree with the Russians, the Americans and the European Union.”

Al-Jarba considered that the guarantee of the Kurds is the alliance and understanding with the rest of the components in the regions of northern and eastern Syria, not the American presence in the country, and demanded the exit of all foreign armies from Syria without exception, explaining that everyone refrains from leaving at the present time, but when there is a political solution they will not be able to Refrain from going out.
