Turkey sends a firm reply to Russia regarding its commitment to implementing the Idlib agreement

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar sent a firm reply to the statements made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov a few days ago, in which he accused Turkey of not complying with Idlib agreement.

Akar said: “We abide by the agreements signed after our talks with Russia, and we have fulfilled our responsibilities, and we expect our interlocutors to abide by these agreements and their responsibilities.”

Akar stressed the necessity of continuing the ceasefire in Idlib, ensuring stability there as soon as possible, making the area safe, and “creating an environment in which Syrians live in safety.”

In his response, he explained, “This is important for the security and safety of people, as well as to prevent a new wave of immigration in any way,” pointing out that Turkey cannot bear the burdens of a new refugee wave.

It is noteworthy that Sergey Lavrov accused Turkey during a press conference a few days ago, in which he clarified, “The Turkish side was unable to complete the implementation of the agreements on separating the moderate opposition from the terrorists in Idlib province, northwest of Syria, which was signed in Moscow about two years ago.”
