UN official: The attacks on hospitals have seriously impeded access to health care in northwest Syria

Yesterday, Monday, Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Farhan Haq, announced acute concern about the escalation in targeting civilians and infrastructure in northwestern Syria in recent days.

“The outbreak of hostilities in northwestern Syria over the weekend has affected at least 30 communities from artillery shelling and air strikes,” Farhan Haq told reporters at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

And Farhan Haq added: “A number of civilians were killed and injured yesterday, Sunday, as a result of artillery shelling on the town of Atareb in Aleppo countryside, and artillery shelling in the city of Aleppo caused the fall of 17 civilians, including two children.”

“The attacks on hospitals have seriously impeded access to health care, as many of the affected medical facilities were forced out of service, depriving vulnerable civilians of life-saving care,” he added, calling on all parties to take all feasible precautions to avoid or at least minimize harm to civilians.
.
Last Sunday, the Assad regime forces targeted Al-Maghara Hospital in the city of Atareb with artillery shells, which led to the death of 7 civilians, including a child and a woman, and wounding more than 15 others, including 9 hospital staff, while the hospital was out of service due to the bombing.

On the same day, the Russian warplanes bombed the Al-Atareb Hospital hours after the massacre of the Bab Al-Hawa border crossing and the camps for the displaced in the Qah area in Idlib countryside, which led to the death of a civilian and the injury of another.
