UNICEF: The security situation in Al-Hol camp in Hasakah countryside raises concerns

UNICEF said: “The security situation in Al-Hol camp, which is inhabited by thousands of families from ISIS, and which is run by the Syrian Democratic Forces in northern and eastern Syria, raises concerns, especially with the reported killing of 40 adults and two children since the beginning

The organization added: “It has received reports that a 15-year-old child was killed in Al-Hol camp in Syria in a violent incident, last Tuesday, and pointed out that another 16-year-old boy was shot dead in the camp two weeks ago.”

The organization stressed that this recent increase in violence in the camp highlights the urgent need to develop long-term solutions for the children of “Al-Hol” camp, and stressed the need for the safe reintegration of Syrian children into their local communities, and the return of foreign children to their countries of origin in safety and dignity.

The organization called on the authorities responsible for the camp to ensure the safety of children and all residents in it, and stated that the camp houses about 40,000 Syrian and foreign children, and Al-Hol camp includes more than 62,000 refugees and displaced persons, including about 22,000 displaced Syrians, more than 30,000 Iraqis, and about 9,500
