Vietnamese Health: We discovered a new strain, which is a hybrid of the Indian and United Kingdom strains

Yesterday, Saturday, the health authorities in Vietnam announced the discovery of a new mutated strain of the Corona virus that is able to spread faster in the air.

“After conducting genetic sequencing on newly discovered patients, we discovered a new strain, which is a hybrid of the two strains of India and the United Kingdom,” the newspaper “Fun Express” quoted the Minister of Health of Vietnam, Nguyen Thanh Luong, as saying.

He added that his country will announce the details of the new strain to the world soon.
Vietnam succeeded in containing Corona last year, but it is now facing a faster spreading infection.

Long said the new variant may be responsible for the recent boom in Vietnam, which has spread to 30 of the country’s 63 municipalities and provinces.
The director of the European branch of the World Health Organization, Hans Kluge, expressed concern about the severity of infection with mutated versions of the Corona virus.

Viruses often develop small genetic changes as they reproduce, and new types of coronavirus have been seen since it was first detected in China in late 2019.
The World Health Organization listed four “global variables of concern”;

The first two species are found in the United Kingdom and India, as well as the two strains discovered in South Africa and Brazil.
Vietnam initially achieved outstanding success in combating the virus. In early May, it recorded just over 3,100 confirmed cases and 35 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic.

The Ministry of Health said that in Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in the country and home to 9 million people, 85 people have tested positive for infection after they gathered in a Protestant church.

The attendees were chanting hymns while sitting close to each other without using masks or taking other precautions.
Vietnam has so far vaccinated one million people with AstraZeneca.
And last week, it struck a deal with Pfizer for 30 million doses, which are scheduled for delivery in the third and fourth quarters of this year.
It is also in talks with Moderna to give it enough doses to vaccinate 80 percent of its 96 million people.
