Yahya Al-Aridi: The negotiating committee is discussing with the European Union the Syrian file

The Syrian negotiating committee called on the European Union to tighten sanctions against the Assad regime, not to re-legitimize it, and to push for everything possible for the release of the detainees.

This came during a meeting between the head of the negotiating committee, Anas Al-Abdah, and the head of the opposition delegation to the Constitutional Committee, Hadi Al-Bahra, with the Foreign Relations Committee in the European Parliament.

In an exclusive interview with Fresh Online, the negotiating committee spokesman, Yahya Al-Aridi, said, “During the conversation, the focus was on implementing UN Resolution 2254 in a certain period of time and moving towards a political transition and creating regulatory mechanisms for implementation, and revealing Russia’s attempts to disrupt international decisions.
Detainees in the prisons of the Assad regime and the need to release them.

Al-Aridi added, “It is necessary to take care of the Syrian refugees in European countries and return them to their countries, provided that there is a political transfer of power in Syria, and that their return is safe and voluntary.”

He explained that the “Syrian Negotiation Commission” affirms the continuity of the Syrian revolution, which is the only way to preserve the right of the Syrian people to regain their country and realize their aspirations.

On March 14, the European Union called on the Assad regime to end the repression, release the detainees and fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 2254, denouncing the presidential elections that it intends to organize in the middle of the year and promising it to renew the European sanctions imposed on it if its repressive behavior continues.
