About the Palestinian issue, Safadi pointed out that a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution is an Arab strategic option, in order to enhance regional and international peace and security.

He stressed the need to launch serious and effective negotiations on the basis of international legitimacy decisions and to create a political horizon for progress towards resolving the conflict.

The Jordanian foreign minister had met the special envoy of the Russian president to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, in the capital Amman at the end of last October, when the latter tried to invite Jordan to participate in the Damascus Refugee Conference, which was held last November. However, Safadi stressed that The solution in Syria will guarantee the exit of all foreign forces, and provide conditions for the voluntary return of refugees to their homeland.
