Abdel Majid Barakat: A unified military council must be formed that includes all the revolutionary factions in northern Syria

Several months ago, the revolutionary factions announced that they will form a unified military council that includes all the factions and military formations in Idlib governorate, after many areas fell to the Assad regime and Russian forces, one by one.

In an exclusive interview with Fresh Online, a member of the political body in the National Coalition, Abdul Majid Barakat, said, “During the years of the revolution, the military action suffered from many problems in terms of structure, organization, and military performance on the fronts, and battles against the Assad regime and Russian forces, which affected
Negatively, the areas that have fallen recently.

Barakat added: “The fall of the regions is the main motivation for the revolutionary factions’ announcement to form a unified military council that includes all factions and blocs, ”indicating that the military factions should think about moving from a spontaneous, uncontrolled state to a professional one.

He explained, “There must be a military structure for the factions, a center, military literature and others, which contribute to avoiding the mistakes of the past, and there are many factors and many motives that led to careful thought to form a unified military council.”

Barakat also asserted that the process of controlling the fronts previously was a process not in the professional way that we are witnessing today, noting that “today the revolutionary factions began to form one of the parties to the agreements (de-escalation), and they must reach the professional level as they deal with a professional army like the Turkish army.”

A member of the political body in the National Coalition concluded, “We are moving in a good direction towards forming a unified structural body, after many factors that contributed to achieving some kind of specific discipline in the interest of the merging of factions.”
