WHO: The health sector in Gaza is getting out of control

Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the situation of the health sector in Gaza is “getting out of control”.

Ghebreyesus’s statement came in a post on “X” platform, formerly Twitter, clarifying that “Every second of delaying to deliver medical aids into Gaza, we lose lives.”

Ghebreyesus pointed out that the medical supplies sent by the WHO into Gaza have been stuck at the border (on the Egyptian side) for 4 days.

Ghebreyesus pointed to the urgent need to start delivering medical supplies into Gaza, calling for a ceasefire between the two sides.

The Health Ministry’s spokesman in Gaza, Ashraf Al Qudra, said on Tuesday that “More than 500 Palestinians were killed in Israeli bombing targeting al-Ahli Arab Hospital. Eyewitnesses’ reports and accounts stated that the death toll is expected to rise.

A large number of residents had fled to the hospital and its surrounding area due to warnings and orders by the Israeli army to evacuate their homes.

The bombing of the hospital sparked a widespread wave of condemnation in many countries of the world, with calls for the need to provide protection for the Palestinian people.
